Looking for some laughs? York Little Theatre has the perfect remedy and it is called "The Great American Trailer Park Musical." ThinkSouth Park meets Desperate Housewives in this big-hearted new musical comedy fable about women of the double-wides and their imperfect men. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her toll-collector husband, neighbors Betty, Lin and Pickles team up to save their friend's marriage. With music set to country rock, gospel, blues and disco, it's everything a trash-talking musical should be!

Performed in the studio, the setting is perfect for this musical comedy for an up-close-and-personal look at stereotypical southern trailerpark life. Imagine the audience is sitting in the character's front yards, complete with lawn flamingos and coolers, for a few hours of outrageous laughter and good times. Two trailers, complimented by aqua and flamingo pink paint, have taken up residence in York Little Theatre's black-box studio and everyone is welcome to take part in this extravaganza of tackiness.

In a Florida trailer park called Armadillo Acres, toll collector Norbert has bought Ice Capades tickets as a twentieth anniversary gift for his wife Jeannie. Unfortunately, she hasn't been outside for the twenty years since their baby was kidnapped and refuses to leave their double-wide. The delicate balance of Armadillo Acres is further upset when stripper on the run Pippi moves in and begins an affair with Norbert. Of course, she's being followed by her violent ex-boyfriend Duke. A trio of trailer park cuties, The Girls, functions as narrators and utility players. Betty runs the place, and her husband is buried on the grounds. Lin's hubby is on death row, and Pickles is a teenage bride suffering from a hysterical pregnancy.

The witty country rock songs by David Nehls and hilarious book by Betty Kelso make "The Great American Trailer Park Musical" an all-out raucous celebration of American low culture. As directed by Duane Baker, music direction by Nick Werner and choreographed by Jason Sullivan, "The Great American Trailer Park Musical" is a fast moving tribute to all that is trashy. Leave your troubles behind and laugh at this masterful tribute to stereotypical trailerparks and the colorful people who dwell within.

The cast includes Becky Wilcox as Betty, Stacey Schell as Linoleum "Lin", Marisa Hoover as Donna "Pickles", Katlyn Hunt as Pippi, Aaron Dalton asNorbert, Karen M. Steelmen as Jeannie and Mike McGuinness as Duke. The show runs August 9-11 and 15-18. Sunday performances are at 3:00p.m., all other performances are at 7:30p.m. at York Little Theatre located at 27 South Belmont Street, York.
